Senior Strategic Portfolio Management Consultant

6+ months contract (Plus extensions)


Role Overview:

As a Senior Strategic Portfolio Management Consultant, you will drive the transformation of portfolio and project management processes. This role focuses on evaluating, auditing, and optimizing project plans to improve efficiency and outcomes. You'll develop frameworks, assess project feasibility, and provide actionable strategies to ensure projects are executed effectively and on time. This is a critical consulting role for a newly established team where your leadership, analytical expertise, and problem-solving skills will directly influence organizational success.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Framework Development: Design and enhance portfolio management frameworks to improve project execution and delivery.
  • Project Auditing: Conduct comprehensive reviews of project plans to identify inefficiencies and feasibility issues.
  • Strategic Advisory: Provide constructive, actionable feedback to refine project plans and enhance team execution.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with leadership to align project priorities and strategies with organizational goals.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Identify causes of project delays and inefficiencies, delivering targeted solutions to address these challenges.
  • Change Management: Navigate and adapt to a dynamic organizational environment, including evolving leadership structures.
  • Performance Assessment: Implement and monitor key performance metrics to drive accountability and improvement.


Key Requirements:

  • Experience: 10–15+ years of project and portfolio management experience, with demonstrated success in optimizing project performance.
  • Auditing Expertise: Proven ability to assess and improve underperforming projects, leveraging deep analytical and strategic skills.
  • Leadership Background: Experience in director-level or strategic leadership roles preferred.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong capability to identify root issues, develop strategies, and implement actionable solutions.
  • Adaptability: Proven success in managing change within fast-paced, evolving environments.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to engage and advise stakeholders at all levels, translating technical insights into clear, actionable plans.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in financial services is beneficial but not required.
