Job Summary

  • The Practice Director is an implementer and is accountable to the Practice Operations Council (POC). Working with the POC, the Practice Director has full responsibility, authority and accountability for the performance of the assigned practice/s. Responsibilities of the Practice Director include provider relations, communications, management of all non-provider staff (clinical matters will include direction from the provider/s), collaboration with MDH Business Office to assure appropriate patient revenue management, Site-Specific Action Plans (SSAPs), physical plant, operations, education and training, supply management, etc. Along with this authority comes the responsibility for the bottom line performance of the assigned practice/s. The Practice Director is physically present in the assigned practice/s 90% of the time.

Job Specifications

  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree preferred in business administration, healthcare administration or related clinical area. Three years of clinic experience; two years of supervisory or management experience with five or more direct/indirect reports preferred. Knowledge of medical practice billing. Ability to interpret and supervise business polices of practice. Special ability to communicate with physicians, staff and general public, both verbally and in writing.


  • JOB KNOWLEDGE: Broad knowledge of medical practice management and clinical office procedures and terminology. Knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements. Knowledge of computer systems, programs and applications including Microsoft Office and electronic medical records systems.
