Job Overview:

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for driving the technological strategy and innovation of the organization; especially in growth areas like distribution/fulfillment, warehouse management and transportation systems. As a leading Third-Party Logistics (3PL) company, the CTO will ensure the development, implementation, and management of technology initiatives that align with the company's business objectives. This role requires a visionary leader with deep expertise in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), open systems, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and cutting-edge technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency, improve service delivery, and foster innovation across all levels of the organization. This position will manage shared technology services like communications, technical equipment, cyber security, and ensuring our Transportation Management System is continuously upgraded and equipped to service customer needs.


Duties and responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the company's technology roadmap, ensuring alignment with the overall business strategy. Lead the technology department in identifying and implementing innovative solutions that drive operational efficiency and support the company’s growth objectives.
  • Warehouse Management Systems (WMS): Oversee the optimization of WMS to ensure seamless warehouse operations. Continuously evaluate and upgrade the WMS to meet evolving industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP): Guide the integration and maintenance of ERP systems across the organization, ensuring accurate data flow and supporting end-to-end business processes. Ensure the ERP system is effectively utilized to provide critical insights for decision-making.
  • Open Systems and Innovation: Champion the adoption of open systems that promote flexibility, scalability, and interoperability. Encourage a culture of innovation by exploring and implementing new technologies that can enhance service delivery and drive competitive advantage.
  • Technology Management: Oversee the IT infrastructure, ensuring it is robust, secure, and capable of supporting the company's operations. This includes network management, cybersecurity, software development, and data management.
  • Vendor and Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with technology vendors and partners, ensuring that the company has access to the best tools and services. Collaborate with other departments to understand their technology needs and deliver appropriate solutions.
  • Team Development: Build and lead a high-performing technology team. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth, continuous learning, and a strong alignment with the company's goals.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure that all technology initiatives comply with relevant regulations and industry standards. Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and risk management strategies to safeguard the company’s data and technology assets.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the technology budget, ensuring that investments in technology deliver maximum return on investment and support the company’s financial objectives.


Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. A master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in technology leadership roles, with a proven track record in a 3PL or related industry.
  • Technical Expertise: Extensive experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and open systems. Strong understanding of software development, IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and data management.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a high-performing technology team. Strong strategic thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Innovative Mindset: Proven ability to drive innovation and lead the adoption of new technologies that enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with other departments and present complex technological concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills with experience in overseeing large-scale technology implementations and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Vendor Management: Experience in managing relationships with technology vendors and negotiating contracts to ensure the best outcomes for the company.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and standards, and experience in implementing compliance and risk management strategies.
