Summary/Objective

The Mechanical Engineer position works on a variety of structural, mechanical, and piping projects from conceptualization to fabrication and installation. This position performs many tasks, working in a team environment during the full completion of a custom design build solution.


Essential Functions

  • Lead mechanical engineering, design, and fabrication for structural, mechanical equipment, and piping for all projects as assigned.
  • Assist with the development of departmental standards for mechanical drawing packages, fabrication, and field installations of mechanical and piping systems.
  • Prepare mechanical stress calculations for structural, civil, and piping systems.
  • Review mechanical system designs for maintenance and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes and standards.
  • Coordinate with applicable departments to create fabrication schedules and mechanical deliverable packages to meet customer delivery dates for fabrication, shipping, and startup (e.g., Fabrication, Supply Chain, etc.).
  • Support Project Management with mechanical aspects of equipment specifications, procurement and client communications.
  • Develop scope of supply documents.
  • Assist with estimates of man-hours required to complete projects.
  • Manage mechanical projects as assigned.
  • Perform pressure vessel calculations and designs.
  • Monitor progress of projects.
  • Assist with ensuring project compliance with company standards and specifications.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to department and company policies, processes, and procedures.

Travel

Moderate travel is expected with this position. Occasionally, travel to client offices and job sites that are out of the area and require overnight stays may be possible.


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related field.
  • 3 - 5 years’ prior experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to read and write English, follow policies, and perform complex math calculations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of 3D modeling software such as Autocad or Cadworx.
  • Working knowledge of Analysis software such as Compress, Caesar II, or Ansys.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding P&IDs, PFDs, equipment data sheets, instrument data sheets, piping ISOs, and pipe specs.


Preferred Education and Experience

  • 5+ years’ prior experience in a similar role.
  • Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) License or Professional Engineer (P.E.) License.


Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Valid driver’s license. Must be able to meet company vehicle insurance requirements.


Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be eligible to work in the United States.
