Electrical Designer

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create detailed electrical schematics and wiring diagrams to ensure proper system functionality.
  • Design layouts for wire routing, connectors, and electrical components while prioritizing safety, accessibility, and industry compliance.
  • Modify and improve designs based on engineering feedback to optimize performance and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to translate design requirements into functional drafts.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align electrical designs with other vehicle subsystems.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of designs, modifications, and revisions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety, environmental, and industry standards.
  • Develop and update technical documentation for manufacturing and assembly, including wiring diagrams and component specifications.
  • Assist in testing and installing electrical systems on prototype vehicles to verify functionality.
  • Work with testing teams to identify and resolve electrical issues, updating designs based on test results.
  • Provide troubleshooting support during vehicle development and production.
  • Stay informed about advancements in electrical technologies and off-road vehicle trends to improve designs.
  • Recommend and implement design improvements for enhanced performance, reliability, and manufacturability.

Education and Experience

  • Associate's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering Technology, Automotive Technology, or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of experience designing electrical systems
