This individual provides technical expertise in the field of waterfront engineering to support various projects, including, but not limited to, field inspection, analysis, design and preparation of plans and technical specifications for waterfront structures and shoreline improvements.


Responsibilities

·        Performs tasks on projects requiring a broad and/or deep knowledge in the field of waterfront engineering;

·        Implements design best practices in areas of expertise, in addition, ensures conformance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements;

·        Performs and reviews analysis and design calculations, prepares plans, specifications and cost estimates;

·        Prepares construction documents including drawings and technical specifications;

·        Performs/oversees construction administration activities;

·        Work independently under Project Manager’s guidance and within RACE’s standard practices;

·        Communicate directly with clients, contractors, regulatory agents and other project stakeholders;

·        Determine and delegate to appropriate technical staff;

·        Provide mentoring and guidance to junior engineers; and

·        Perform other duties as required.


Qualifications

·        Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Structural, Geotechnical and/or Coastal Engineering.

·        Professional Engineer Registration or ability to obtain;

·        5-10 years related project-based engineering experience with an emphasis on waterfront and coastal design, construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation;

·        AutoCAD experience;

·        Proficient in engineering modeling software relative to area of expertise;

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

·        Self-motivated, flexible, and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment;

·        Strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills;

·        Ability to work part of a team and independently; and

·        Interest and comfort level with being around, in and on the water.
