Our client a top tier financial services firm is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Vice President (VP) for the Equity Derivative Product Controller team in New York City. This role is essential to ensuring the integrity of the financial statements and providing oversight on all financial reporting and controls related to the equity derivatives business. The VP will be a key partner to the front office, risk management, operations, and other finance teams, driving business performance while ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities:


- Financial Oversight: Manage the monthly and quarterly close process for the equity derivatives portfolio, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of P&L, balance sheet, and key financial metrics.

- Valuation Control: Oversee the valuation process for equity derivative products, ensuring that all positions are marked to market accurately and that valuation adjustments are properly reflected.

- Risk Management: Collaborate with the front office and risk management teams to understand and manage risks inherent in the equity derivatives portfolio, including market, credit, and operational risks.

- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including Basel III, Dodd-Frank, and Volcker Rule, and work closely with internal audit and external regulators.

- Strategic Initiatives: Lead and contribute to strategic projects aimed at enhancing the equity derivatives business, such as system implementations, process improvements, and new product launches.

- Stakeholder Management: Act as a key liaison between the front office, operations, risk management, and other finance teams, providing expert advice on financial controls and the implications of business decisions.

- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of product controllers, fostering a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, and collaboration.

- Reporting: Develop and present detailed financial analyses to senior management, providing insights into business performance and advising on potential financial impacts of strategic decisions.

- Process Optimization: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the product control function, including automation and the use of advanced analytics.


Qualifications:


- Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. A CPA, CFA, or MBA is highly preferred.

- Experience: 8+ years of experience in product control, financial control, or a related role within investment banking or financial services, with a strong focus on equity derivatives.

- Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial reporting, valuation techniques, and risk management practices related to equity derivatives. Experience with relevant systems such as SAP, Oracle, or other financial reporting tools is a plus.

- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and present actionable insights.

- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks impacting equity derivatives, including experience in working with internal audit and external regulators.
