You will work with individuals of all ages who have physical, sensory, or cognitive problems and develop personalized treatment plans to enhance their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients' physical, psychological, and social needs to develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Design and implement therapeutic interventions to improve patients' ability to perform daily activities.
  • Educate patients and their families on how to perform various tasks and manage their condition.
  • Monitor patients' progress and adjust treatments as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and social workers, to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Document patient evaluations, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately and timely.
  • Stay current with the latest occupational therapy research and practices to provide evidence-based care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and plan for future treatment.
  • Advocate for patients’ rights and access to necessary resources and support services.
  • Conduct community outreach and education to promote awareness of occupational therapy services.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current Florida state license to practice as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Proven experience working as an Occupational Therapist, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong understanding of occupational therapy principles, techniques, and equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with specific populations, such as pediatrics, geriatrics, or individuals with neurological disorders.
  • Additional certifications or specialized training in areas such as hand therapy, sensory integration, or assistive technology.
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish and Creole due to Florida’s diverse population.

Working Conditions:

  • Part-time position with typical work hours, though some evening or weekend work may be required.
  • Work primarily in a clinical setting, with some home visits or community outreach as needed.
  • Physical demands include lifting and positioning patients, and moving equipment.
