PostgreSQL DBA

This position will be responsible for managing, optimizing, and securing PostgreSQL database systems used across various state-level applications and services. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with PostgreSQL administration, strong problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of database performance tuning, security, and disaster recovery.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 12+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL database administration.
• Extensive experience in database performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting.

Technical Skills:

• Expert-level knowledge of PostgreSQL database architecture, replication, and high-availability solutions (e.g., streaming replication, failover).
• Strong experience with SQL, PL/pgSQL, and database tuning techniques.
• Experience with database backup tools, disaster recovery procedures, and security practices.
• Proficient in shell scripting, automation, and monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Prometheus, or similar).
• Knowledge of cloud environments and containerized PostgreSQL setups (AWS, Azure, Docker) is a plus.

Desired Skills:

• Experience with PostgreSQL clustering, replication, and load balancing.
• Familiarity with other database technologies (e.g., MySQL, Oracle) is a plus.
• Familiarity with version control systems and CI/CD pipelines
