They have a need for an Azure SME – Machine Learning & Cognitive Services who is responsible for designing and implementing machine learning models and cognitive services on the Azure platform. This role focuses on leveraging Azure’s AI and cognitive services to develop intelligent applications and solutions that enhance business processes. The Azure SME – Machine Learning & Cognitive Services ensures that AI models and cognitive solutions are effectively integrated into business workflows, driving innovation and improving operational efficiency. This is a full time, hybrid role located in Camp Springs, MD. This position requires the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance; therefore, US Citizenship is required.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, train, and deploy machine learning models using Azure Machine Learning.
  • Create intelligent applications and solutions using Azure Cognitive Services, including vision, speech, language, and decision-making APIs.
  • Integrate machine learning models and cognitive services into applications to enhance business processes.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of machine learning models and cognitive services.
  • Gather requirements from business and technical stakeholders and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Provide guidance on best practices for implementing and managing machine learning models and cognitive services on Azure.
  • Implement and maintain data governance policies to ensure the quality, security, and privacy of data used in AI models and cognitive services.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in Azure AI and cognitive services.
  • Create comprehensive documentation for machine learning models, cognitive services, technical specifications, and integration plans.
  • Address and resolve issues related to machine learning models and Azure cognitive services.
  • Provide post-implementation support, including performance tuning, bug fixes, and system enhancements.
  • Work independently and understand the technical aspects of AI and cognitive services.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality solutions.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Adapt to changing project requirements and work effectively in a dynamic environment.


Knowledge/Skills required by the position:

  • Minimum of 5 – 10 years of experience in machine learning, AI, or related roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or a related field.
  • U.S. citizen.
  • Able to obtain a public trust or security clearance.
  • Strong skills in developing and maintaining AI and machine learning solutions on Azure.
  • Experience with Azure Machine Learning and Azure Cognitive Services.
  • Proficiency in designing scalable, secure, and cost-effective AI solutions.
  • Proficiency with coding tools Azure SME data engineers use, including Python, R, Java, C#, and SQL.
  • Relevant Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Azure AI Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
  • Expert in analyzing complex datasets, identifying trends, and extracting meaningful insights using tools such as Python, R, SQL, and Tableau.
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning algorithms and techniques and be skilled in implementing models using frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-Learn.
  • Proficient in developing advanced statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms to analyze large datasets within the Azure ecosystem.
  • Experience leading data modernization and migration projects to Azure cloud, successfully transitioning legacy systems to cloud-based platforms.
  • Broad range of skillsets across Microsoft Azure, SQL, Power BI, AI/ML, Application Development, and Analytics & AI offerings to improve customer experience and software development goals.


Preferred Skills:

  • Understanding of AI governance, ethical considerations, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience designing and implementing AI-driven solutions, including model deployment and integration.
  • Ability to collaborate with data scientists and AI engineers to develop and deploy AI solutions that meet business objectives.
