In conjunction with the Controller, the Senior Finance Accountant will establish, coordinate and maintain an accounting system that properly reflects the financial position of the financial institution and provides financial consolidation of the Parent Company, locations, and subsidiaries. Assists in preparing all government regulatory agency reports as required for the financial institution and the Parent Company.


Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Review general ledger, analyze financial accounts and review and prepare journal entries. Support in closing and produce monthly, quarterly and yearly corporate financial statements.
  • Coordinate corporate accounting activities, including accounts payable and receivable operations and billing. Reviews and reconciles revenue reports, variances and claims disbursements.
  • Develop and implement policies to streamline financial institution accounting procedures.
  • Responsible for fixed-asset management.
  • Review and coordinate reconciliations for all general ledger accounts, ensuring accurate processing and posting of all account entries.
  • Review and document all transactions and general ledger adjustments.
  • Back-up processor for bills for payment. Produces appropriate ACH and checks for distribution.
  • Assist in maintaining all accounts payable files.
  • Oversee and prepare all Accounts Payables 1099s annually.
  • Assist and perform analysis and research of all open accounts payable problems.
  • Assist and maintain files on W-9s for all vendors.
  • Establish and maintain a cash management program that optimizes the institution’s cash management practices with its various correspondent banking relationships.
  • Assist in preparing quarterly Call Report, Minimum Reserve reports and all applicable FRY reports.
  • Complete all Reg. F Reviews for 3rd Party Vendors and correspondent banks.
  • Support the accounting functions for the financial institution. Monitors cost control activities. Approve and implement cost control strategies on an as-needed basis.
  • Assist in financial reporting, financial analyses, cash management and forecasting reports.
  • Prepare and review financial institution finance projections and manage financial institution investment accounting activities.
  • Ensure the financial institution’s accounting procedures are in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Review and appraise policies and procedures for safeguarding financial institution assets.
  • Recommend and assist in the development of procedures and controls which are indicated through normal audit reviews.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting governmental reports and tax deposits. Assist in coordinating the external examination as performed by the independent auditing firm representing the financial institution.
  • Models the ACCESSway behaviors daily.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Financial Management or Business Administration; MBA and/or CPA preferred.
  • Three to five years of progressively more responsible experience in a banking or financial management environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of financial institution policies and procedures.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
