You'll need to be self-motivated, able to juggle multiple priorities, and work well in our multi-disciplinary team. You will need to be very careful and precise with your work, documenting your processes and procedures thoroughly.


You will work within our R&D team to scale-up and produce materials in our pilot plant that meet our customers’ performance requirements. Being a hands-on process engineer, you will scale-up and optimize lab synthesis and purification methods, implement continuous improvements, demonstrate good chemical process safety, and meet product quality requirements from Chromatic’s customers.


Responsibilities

  • produce polyurethane prepolymers in pilot plant setting
  • measure and ensure product quality requirements (viscosity, reactivity, GPC, material testing)
  • design effective pilot plant equipment and processes to safely scale-up production from lab processes
  • troubleshoot and improve equipment and process performance deviations
  • maintain excellent records for all batches and quality measurements
  • work with R&D, Ops, and Sales leadership to plan and maintain the production schedule
  • optimize reaction, purification, and cleaning processes to reduce product cost and make consistent product quality
  • perform safe procedures, write SOP’s, and train other R&D team members
  • work with R&D and operations team for continuous improvement



Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, polymer science, or chemical engineering
  • 1-10 years work experience
  • Scale-up/pilot plant experience
  • strong safety track record
  • Analytical and quality measurements
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize work


Restrictions:

  • Chromatic will not pay for a relocation to the Minneapolis area.
  • Chromatic will not sponsor an immigration case.
  • Salary range for this position is $90k-125k+stock options.
