General Summary:


The Virtual Chief Technology Officer (vCTO) will provide high-level strategic and operational IT expertise to our managed IT services clientele. In this capacity, the vCTO will work closely with multiple client organizations, ensuring that their technology strategies align with their business objectives, and are supported by the right solutions and services. They will also provide direct implementation of time and material projects for clients.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Ensure completion of recurring client audits and VCTO Portion of Business Review for their set of clients.
  • Presentation of Business Review to their set of clients
  • Provide IT roadmap and asset lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate and interface with colleagues to build proper development and execution of projects.
  • Review and sign off on Project Completion.
  • Build relationships with clients and participate in necessary client meetings.
  • Develop and implement the technology strategy for their set of clients in collaboration with clients’ executive team.
  • Lead the design and implementation of the company's technology infrastructure, including networks, hardware, and software systems.
  • Participate in the development of client Best Practices.
  • Oversee the implementation of Best Practices for their set of clients.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies that can improve the company's efficiency and performance
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to identify potential opportunities.
  • Assist the client in managing their technology budgets and ensure that technology investments deliver a positive ROI.
  • Change Advisory Board member to approve changes for all clients.
  • Member of the Technology Committee, responsible for identifying, vetting, and approving new technologies for clients.
  • Oversight on the resolution of only MAJOR incidents.
  • Oversight of all technical aspects of client onboarding.
  • Review security vulnerability scans and determine coverage on remediation (project, ticket, T&M).
  • Implementation of T&M projects (under 8 hours) for clients.
  • Provide documentation to support the project proposal process.
  • Work with Pod Leader & Service Delivery Manager to determine pain points for clients and assist with recommendations.
  • Prep and maintain SOP Patching for their clients.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in a technology leadership role.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing technology strategies that align with business goals
  • Strong knowledge of current and emerging technologies, including cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and remotely with minimal supervision


Professional IT Certifications (or equivalent knowledge):

  • VMWare VCP
  • CCNA/ASCP
  • Fortinet NSE 7
  • VOIP CCNP Collab
  • Azure


In-Depth Knowledge of the following:

  • Firewall/Security appliances
  • Switching/Routing
  • Wireless technologies
  • Windows Server OS
  • Windows SQL Server
  • Microsoft Exchange/Exchange Online
  • Virtualization Technologies & High Availability Solutions
  • Workstation management
  • DNS services (Internal/External)
  • Cisco Voice (Call Manager), Microsoft Teams, or similar solutions
  • Remote Desktop Services


Other Considerations

  • DAILY time entry accounting for at least 8 hours before leaving, and adherence to billable utilization target based on team goal.
  • Ability to pursue and acquire technical certifications to maintain a current skillset required to support our clients.
  • Ensure regular and timely completion of Minimum Documentation Standards for each client
  • Adherence to change management processes and ITIL standards
  • Successful management of client expectations when targets cannot be met.
  • Good communication with Account Managers and Service Delivery Managers with regards to events and changes transpiring at client sites
  • Ability to communicate with clients at all levels from IT personnel to C-Level Executives and to understand business issues in the context of IT issues
  • Ability to work in close quarters at times, or lift/carry items in excess of 25Lbs
  • Ability and willingness to recognize when it is necessary to ask for technical expertise from others without unnecessarily burdening other team members
  • Ability to provide accurate time estimates for how long a task will take
  • Enjoys sharing information, supporting others, and working on a team to achieve team goals ​
