SWIM INSTRUCTOR- Training Provided

You Can Learn to Swim offers private swim instruction to individuals ages 3 years to adults. Our goal is to transition non-swimmers into independent swimmers, regardless of their age or abilities. The majority of our summer swimmers are beginner-intermediate level children, many of whom are anxious around the water or have attention difficulties. Some of our students have special needs and require adaptive instruction. We do not sell lesson packages or push anyone to purchase more lessons than they need. Our number one goal is to prevent drownings by teaching as many individuals to swim as possible. The work environment is positive and encouraging. This position is ideal for college students, teachers on summer break, or retirees.

We are seeking candidates who:

• Know how to swim the basic strokes
• Have teaching experience in any field or worked in a childcare setting (ie: camps)
• Can communicate well with children and their parents
• Are able to accept constructive criticism
• Are team players
• Are responsible in terms of commitments, safety, and valuing clients' time and money.
• Are outgoing and positive

All instructors must:

• Attend all training sessions
• Teach according to the You Can Learn to Swim method and philosophy
• Work four shifts per week. Shifts are from 3:00-7:00 pm Sundays-Fridays and 11:00-3:00 on Sundays. More hours are available, if desired.
• Be on time and be physically and emotionally prepared for each lesson
• Treat students, parents, lifeguards, co-workers and other swimmers with respect
• Use our scheduling app to confirm lessons, communicate with students, report weather cancellations
• Be able to pass a background check
• Provide personal and work references
