Role description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Tank Vessel Operator located in Southport, CT, only.
The operator will be responsible for the monitoring of vessel operations for a fleet of spot and time charter vessels. This includes communications/liaison with, Ship Owners/Managers, Charterers and Vessel Agents. This requires a highly motivated & organized self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills. This position is located in Southport, Connecticut, USA and will require relocation to within commuting distance.
Responsibilities:
Oversee day to day voyage operations from initial fixing through the collection of freight payment.
Assist owners and charterers in reviewing stow plans, tank cleaning methods, voyage orders, customs filing, and data analysis while ensuring compliance with agreed charter party terms.
Post-voyage responsibilities include the review, logging, submission, negotiation, and tracking of ancillary claims.
Random monitoring of emails after hours during the workweek.
Some occasional travel (~3%) is required, typically to Houston, TX.
Education/Professional Certifications/Licenses
Basic qualification
Degree from a maritime academy (Marine Transportation, International Trade & Transportation, or similar)
Preferred qualification:
USCG Deck Officer License or equivalent shoreside experience
Experience
3+ years of relevant experience in the Maritime Industry or combination of education and relevant industry experience
Sailing experience on board tank vessel is preferred, but not required.

Proficient level of PC skills including MS Office suite and Web Based applications
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and math skills

Time management, Stress management, and ability to work effectively across a wide variety of cultural differences
Salary
Posted base salary range is for reference only. Actual salary offered will be commensurate with experience and may be higher or lower than the advertised range. Performance based, discretionary bonuses paid every July and December in addition to the agreed base salary.
