TECHEAD is celebrating over thirty-five years of incredible heritage, talent, and accomplishments To learn more about TECHEAD, visit us at TECHEAD.com or on Glassdoor.Fiber Optic Cable Technician | #21911On-site in Bedford, MA6 mos, Contract-To-HireTechead has partnered with our GovCon client to help them hire a full-time, Cable Installer for a contract-to-hire position in Bedford, MA.Job ResponsibilitiesAs a member of a contracted base-level enterprise IT service delivery team, you will handle daily maintenance, troubleshooting, engineering, and installation of copper and fiber optic cabling systems for both secure and unsecure networks.-Install & Troubleshoot: Configure, install, implement, test, and troubleshoot all high-speed copper (e.g., CAT5e, CAT6) and fiber optic cabling across a large campus in a converged architecture.Outside Plant: Install fiber optic cabling utilizing underground conduit and manhole systems, including working safely in confined spaces.-Documentation: Update and maintain cable topology/fiber availability drawings (using tools like AutoCAD) and document new/changed processes.-Support & Logistics: Capture service incidents and requests in the applicable ticketing systems, manage work orders to meet contract metrics, and provide premier customer service. Monitor hardware stock and provide material/labor estimates for projects.-Equipment: Install communications backboards, rack, and equipment cabinets. Monitor, test, and calibrate all specialized test equipment.-Availability: Provide planned and/or emergency after-hours support as required.Job Requirements:-Structured Cabling: Must have experience in the installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting of structured copper cabling (CAT5e, CAT6) and inside/outside plant fiber optic cable plants (multi-mode and single-mode).-Technical Standards: Proficient with cable test equipment and working knowledge of all applicable TIA/EIA cabling standards.Tools: Familiar with Windows and Microsoft Office suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).-Physical: Ability to lift up to 70+ lbs.Soft Skills: Strong troubleshooting, critical thinking, written/verbal communication, and customer service skills are essential.-Education and Clearance: High School Diploma with three years of relevant experience and an active DoD Secret ClearanceTECHEAD's mission is to make our on-site associates successful by placing them in the right environment so they can grow and prosper.
