Senior Designer, BIM/VDC - BLS role located in Durham, NC is responsible for supporting reality capture and layout for the VDC Lead, Coordinators, and Designers.

Explore Your Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance and calibration of equipment
  • Verifies the accuracy of CAD/Model coordinate data vs. existing field conditions on job site
  • Generates field impact reports to BIM Coordinator/ Project Manager
  • Identifies and resolves complex issues relating to layout and site conditions
  • Willingness to learn new means and methods for layout and technology advancements
  • Evaluates field problems and issue RFIs
  • Prepares, coordinates, and verifies as-built data in CAD software
  • Evaluates construction installations relative to 3D coordinated models
  • Prepares “shop drawing” level 3D models for field routed work
  • Assists in resolving model constructability issues and solutions for self-performed work
  • Provides software training to field employees
  • Other duties may be assigned

Show your expertise

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 0 - 3+ years of experience
  • Prior experience in design, creation, and modeling of Process, Pharmaceutical, Mechanical, and plumbing systems preferred
  • Ability to operate a Laser Scanner
  • Ability to register scans
  • Capability to understand project scope for appropriate scanning needs for detailing and construction
  • Ability to operate a Robotic Total station to assist with layout from construction model
  • Ability to collect relevant x,y,z coordinates from model data and transfer the point layout in field for installations of systems
  • Knowledge of current industry practices with regard to installation of various MEP systems
  • Expert level of Autodesk 2018+: AutoCAD, Fabrication, Navisworks Manage, and Revit
  • Expert level Autodesk Recap Pro 2018+
  • Expert Level Faro Scene
  • Expert level of trade related code and design principles.
