Job Summary:

Operates magnetic resonance imaging equipment, computer, and image management systems utilized in performing MRI exams.

Demonstrates patient care skills appropriate for a working environment that utilizes magnetic fields and knowledgeable in the application of MR contrast agents.

Essential Functions:

Possesses overall knowledge of MR physics, including how the selection of parameters and options affects image quality. Demonstrates competence in the acquisition and processing of MRI data, including the development and implementation of new procedures.

Ensures a working knowledge of affiliated computers, injector systems, patient care monitors, and other related equipment.

Maintains venipuncture technique and patient care skills appropriate for administration of MRI contrast materials. Is knowledgeable in their clinical applications as well as precautions specific to MRI contrast agents.

Authorized to obtain medication, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast material as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist, or registered nurse.

Medications to include radioisotopes and contrast materials cannot be administered without appropriate clinical credentials, training, and certification to do so.

Employees designated to "obtain " these items may also participate in the ordering and distribution of inventory.

Education, License and Certifications:

High School graduate or equivalent and completion of a formal, AMA approved Radiologic Technology or Nuclear Medicine program required.

MRI experience preferred.

Formal MRI training a significant benefit.

Registry with either the NMTCB, ARRT (N), or ARRT (R) required. Advanced Registry in MRl beneficial.
