The Lead Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the successful execution of VMware-based infrastructure projects, server migrations, and managed service implementations. This role requires strong leadership, project management expertise, and deep technical knowledge. You will work closely with senior leadership, project teams, and customers to deliver projects on time, within budget, and according to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership & Management:
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of project managers, engineers, and other technical resources to deliver projects related to VMware virtualization, server migrations, and MSP services.
- Develop project plans, define project scopes, set deadlines, and allocate resources to ensure timely project delivery.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients during project execution, ensuring their expectations are met and addressing any concerns or issues.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including senior management, customers, and partners.
Technical Oversight & Expertise:
- Provide technical leadership in VMware environments, server migration strategies, and MSP solutions.
- Oversee the planning and execution of server migration projects, ensuring minimal disruption to clients’ operations.
Resource & Budget Management:
- Manage project budgets, ensuring projects are delivered within the agreed financial parameters.
- Optimize resource allocation, balancing team workloads and leveraging external resources as needed.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in IT project management, including significant exposure to VMware technologies, MSP environments, and server migration projects.
- Proven experience managing and delivering large-scale IT infrastructure projects, particularly those involving VMware virtualization, cloud environments, and data center migrations.
- Strong background in managed services, ideally having worked within an MSP or similar environment.
- In-depth knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and other VMware products.
- Experience with server migration tools and strategies (e.g., VMware vMotion, storage migrations, cloud migrations).
- Familiarity with server hardware, network infrastructure, and security best practices.
- Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid cloud models.
- Expertise in project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) and tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Trello).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead teams under pressure.
- Experience in managing budgets, timelines, and project resources effectively.
- Exceptional leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring cross-functional teams.
- Ability to negotiate with vendors, clients, and partners to achieve project goals.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent.
- ITIL Foundation or other relevant IT service management certifications.
