Job Title: Credentialing Coordinator

Job’s Location: Norwood, OH

Contract’s length: 10-months contract

Salary: $35.00


Job Summary:

The Credentialing Coordinator is responsible for organizing and managing medical staff operations. Key tasks include preparing for committee meetings, recording and distributing minutes, and supporting the credentialing and privileging processes. The role involves analyzing credentialing files, ensuring compliance with accrediting agencies (e.g., Joint Commission, NCQA), and maintaining a thorough knowledge of relevant statutes and regulations. This position also manages expirable items monthly, handles confidential information, and facilitates communication between medical staff services, committees, and leadership.


Key Responsibilities:


Credentialing & Compliance:

  • Coordinate credentialing activities for Medical and Allied Health Staff, following TCH policies, federal/state regulations, and accrediting standards.
  • Process and follow up on requests for temporary, additional, one-time privileges, and for visiting physicians or student observers.
  • Verify professional liability coverage, licensure, board certifications, and certifications (e.g., BLS, ACLS, DEA).
  • Support compliance with Joint Commission accreditation and regulatory requirements.


Administrative Support:

  • Provide administrative assistance for Credentials, General Staff, and other Medical Staff committees.
  • Support the annual dues process, credentialing/database management, and substitute for the Credentialing/Administrative Assistant as needed.
  • Coordinate on-call schedules, committee rosters, and the yearly master calendar.
  • Assist with verifying medical staff membership and privileges for providers from other facilities.


Event Coordination:

  • Assist in organizing medical staff events and functions as directed.
  • Coordinate Department Director elections every two years.


Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5 years experience in healthcare, focusing on credentialing, privileging, and medical staff services.
  • Proficient verbal, written, and telephone communication skills.
  • Strong multitasking abilities, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise judgment in credentialing and privileging decisions, and handle problem-solving effectively.
  • Self-starter who sets a professional example with teamwork, reliability, and commitment to quality improvement.
  • Proficient in database management, Microsoft Office, Windows applications, and regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission).


Education & Certifications:

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred: Associate’s Degree or equivalent education/experience combination
  • Preferred Certifications: CPCS or CPMSM

  • 8-hour shift
