Our EPC Firm is looking for a Direct Hire, Electrical Engineer in Portsmouth, NH. (Onsite, Relocation Assistance Available). You will be responsible for developing electrical equipment specifications for motor control centers (MCC’s), switchgear, and other electrical equipment. Primarily working on projects in the LNG, LPG, NG and Utilities industries.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and/or direct the CAD department to produce thorough engineering documentation to record these designs.
  • Contribute to the material procurement process by preparing specifications and reviewing vendors’ quotations for technical accuracy.
  • Use prepared engineering documents as part of a complete bid package to allow contractors to bid accurately. Analyze returning bids for completeness and pricing. Select and approve contractors.
  • Review specifications, drawings, and other vendor documentation within electrical discipline to verify compliance with project requirements.
  • Perform sizing and selection of electrical equipment.
  • Direct and participate in activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements. Attendance to FAT required. Periodic field travel to oversee electrical contractor’s progress.
  • Direct and coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations.


Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (BSEE) from a four-year college or university.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience (Senior level applicants are also being considered).
  • Experience in low and medium voltage power distribution systems, including power system design, equipment sizing, protective device selection, and power systems studies.
  • Familiarity with single-line diagrams, power and control schematics, raceway and wiring design for conduits and cable trays, grounding design and details for electrical installation.
  • Understanding of electrical specifications for generators, motors, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers (MCC’s), variable frequency drives (VFDs), soft starters, and uninterruptable power supply (UPS) systems.
  • Knowledge of power modeling software (ETAP preferred) to conduct power system analyses (motor starting transient, load flow, short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash).
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD preferred.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety).
  • Field Construction experience preferred.
