Sr. DevOps Engineer

Note: This is a full-time, regular W2 hire, not a C2C position.

Summary: The Sr. DevOps Engineer is responsible for provisioning, configuring, securing, and administering Onset’s cloud based, customer facing systems; HOBOlink and InTempConnect.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform DevSecOps functions which include monitoring, managing, securing, and supporting cloud-based technology and applications.
• Creating and executing deployment plans for new software releases. Participate in the DevOps on-call rotation.
• Provision cloud infrastructure using HashiCorp Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible.
• Perform patching, vulnerability identification and remediation, disaster recovery tests, and participate in penetration tests. Monitor and maintain security tools including anti-virus/anti-malware, firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems and participate as a member of our Security Incident Response Team.
• Conduct security posture assessments, mitigating findings; Monitor and respond to ongoing threats.
• Administer user access and identity management.
• Monitor and manage network configuration and systems backup.
• Observability and monitoring of micro-service environments using Grafana, Prometheus and AWS OpenSearch.
• Act in alignment with business and user needs and contribute/support organizational policy.
• Develop, setup, configure and monitor health and status of the whole stack: load balancers to filesystems and databases.
• Work with Engineering SCM to deploy customer-facing systems.
• Oversee software code scanning using SonarQube.
• Develop, build, and maintain tools for monitoring and operations.
• Monitor and maintain network security and intrusion detection.
• Respond to security and infrastructure inquiries from customers.
• Oversee backup process, perform periodic failover and redundancy testing.
• Handle domain registration and maintenance.
• Work regularly with: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Linux/Unix Administration, Maven, Jenkins, GoCD, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-based monitoring tools; Prometheus, Grafana, OpenSearch, NewRelic, Java EE (Web applications); Vue.JS, Node.js, (HA) services and infrastructure (load balancers, database clusters, replication, and application server pools), PSQL and MySQL and scripting languages – shell, python.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

The minimum requirements for this position are a bachelor’s degree in computer and information science, computer engineering or a related field of study (foreign equivalent degrees accepted) and 8 year(s) of experience working in a DevOps role with database, cloud-based tools, and Amazon Web Services.
