Client Overview:
This client is a leading financial services firm located in the hear of Boston. This firm prides itself on a very systematic approach to the business, where they have seen the impact technology can provide and always look to maintain the cutting edge.
Position Overview:
This role will be focused on the firm’s infrastructure systems which are primarily VMware focused (ESX, VRA, or VDI). Alongside VMware administration, this role also has a secondary focus on Dell/EMC systems and Windows and Active Directory. Alongside system administration, this position will have a focus on Rubrik for Disaster Recovery. You will be closely working with the Desktop team, and core Infra team.
Responsibilities:
- The team manages various aspects of the environment, requiring daily use of technical skills in patching, backups, monitoring, and auditing systems.
- Responsible for all datacenter hardware and handling vendor support tickets.
- Handle team projects and user requests using Jira and Jira Service Desk for incident and service desk support.
- Develop and enforce IT standards, procedures, policies, and best practices.
- Focus on security to ensure best practices are followed and apply remediation as needed.
- Regularly assist with Service Desk requests (Desktop, VDI, Phone, Mobile, etc.) to ensure timely issue resolution.
- Monitor and respond promptly to requests received through the service desk system.
- Address reported issues in person, via chat, phone, or email as needed.
- Manage and support collaboration, printing, phone, conferencing, and related systems.
- Support employee mobile devices through a mobile device management platform (MDM).
- Provide support for escalated issues and assist in root cause analysis of production-impacting events.
- Review and improve documentation for troubleshooting and resolution procedures.
- Evening or weekend work may be required for changes, patching, or other critical tasks.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of technical support/infrastructure related experience
- Dedicated experience with industry platforms (Dell/HP/Cisco Servers, Windows/Exchange, and VMware)
- Proven technological problem solving skills
- Communication skills a must
