Job Summary:

Responsible for the management and reporting of all program and commercial issues for the assigned programs after award of business to ensure on time delivery and flawless launches. Responsibilities include the management of product development, design verification, new tool/equipment implementation, engineering change management, commercial negotiations, program financials, overseeing supplier and manufacturing plant deliverables and providing direction for program team members.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the efforts of team members to ensure that programs are conducted in accordance with the requirements of program scope. Direct interface with the customer and responsibility to keep the customer informed on program status.
  • Establish program timing and provide direction to the program team to ensure deliverables are met to internal and external customer expectations.
  • Create program budget within the SAP system and work with Finance to create Investment Request for program funding approval.
  • Establish program team and hold kick-off meeting for newly awarded programs.
  • Set-up periodic meetings with program team and manage program open issues.
  • Forecasting, monitoring and maintaining expenditures against program budget. This includes approval and tracking of purchase requisitions, periodic reviews with Finance, and reporting to management.
  • Report program timing, financial status, and top level issues at monthly management reviews.
  • Organize the process audit in the manufacturing facility and ensure that launch readiness activities are complete prior to the process audit.
  • Lead engineering change activities from award and throughout launch.
  • Ensure appropriate APQP activities are taking place. This includes timely completion of program gates/checklists
  • Promote synergy between program team and manufacturing facilities.
  • Ensure escalation issues are defined and action plans implemented to bring program on time and under budget
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Four year Bachelor’s degree: Engineering, or Project Management degree, Master’s preferred
  • Minimum 6 years of Automotive Program Management experience or equivalent
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Experience with project financials KPI’s

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must possess the ability to manage people and interface with customers
  • Basic technical understanding with respect to one or more of these areas: automated assembly equipment, complex product assemblies, mechanisms, metal and plastic forming, injection molding technologies, tooling, fixtures and gauges
  • Proficient in MS Project, SAP, and other IT systems, including customer portals
  • General knowledge of OEM terminology, launch dates and requirements
  • Able to manage multiple high priority projects simultaneously
