Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team – a subject matter expert in mixed signal electrical design with knowledge of best practices and future technology trends. Our unique intellectual property requires an innovative and curious engineer who will contribute to and mentor others in the development of new hardware architecture and design, and support implementation in test and product systems. This is a critical role for our organization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in mixed-signal electrical design projects through the product lifecycle from planning, design, and development to launch and support of current products.
  • Provide expert knowledge and best practices for architecture and design of mixed-signal system hardware.
  • Lead new mixed-signal designs through Design Transfer to manufacturing, including supporting DFM analysis, ICT, troubleshooting and First Article Inspections.
  • Test and evaluate new technologies as they relate to ICs, electromechanical actuators, power circuits and their implementation with consideration of manufacturing scalability, maintainability, and supply chain availability.
  • Architect and develop automated test systems for continuous maintenance and improvement of products including execution of test planning, builds and test.
  • Lead new designs through regulatory and standards testing EMC and electrical requirements for medical devices such as FCC Part 15, IEC 60601-1 etc.
  • Author and review domain specific design controls in the Design History File.
  • Act as domain expert and provide knowledge and training on product characteristics, technologies, and regulatory requirements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or related field with 7+ years of professional experience designing mixed-signal circuit design and development in a regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in designing signal conditioning circuits for low-noise signal acquisition.
  • Demonstrated proficiency applying rapid prototyping methods such as breadboarding, circuit simulation, off-the-shelf hardware, hand-soldering, creating PCB layouts and completing proof-of-concept evaluation.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in creating technical documentation and translating product requirements to architecture and implementation.
  • Knowledge of applicable standards and regulations applicable to wireless medical devices such as the IEC-60601-1 family, UL, and FCC Part 15.
  • Must be a team player with initiative and follow through in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, or related field with 5+ years of domain experience.
  • Professional experience designing for medical devices including supporting testing to regulatory requirements and standards such as IEC 60601-1, UL, FCC certification, etc.
  • Expert knowledge of secondary battery technologies such as Li-Ion Polymer and power management circuit design.
  • Expert knowledge of technologies and actuators used for haptic feedback such as electrical motors, solenoids, and drive circuitry design.
  • Experience with designing hardware layer signal interfaces for USB, RS232, SPI, I2C, etc.
  • Knowledge of software development tools used and programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, Kotlin.
  • Experience with Altium, LTSpice, OrCAD, Eagle PCB, Raspberry Pi and Arduino.
