IP Patton Paralegal

Harvard Resource Solutions was recently engaged in a new search for an IP Patent Specialist/Paralegal on a direct hire basis for our law firm client in Kalamazoo.

Salary Range: 50K – 59K

Location: Kalamazoo

Title: IP Patent Specialist/Paralegal

Working Arrangement: Hybrid -4 days in office for the first 6 months. 3 days in the office, 2 days at home is standard firm policy.

Position Description

•Assist with coordinating domestic and international filings with the USPTO and foreign law offices.

•Help maintain the docket system for due dates related to patent actions, including responses, renewals, oppositions, Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) requirements, and payment of patent annuities.

•Support the preparation and filing of various documents with the USPTO or foreign counsel.

•Assist in preparing and recording assignments.

•Draft correspondence to clients.

•Help prepare status summary reports for attorneys and clients.

•Review and take action on correspondence received from foreign associates.

•Obtain legalizations and certifications as needed.

•Conduct research and compile information on national and international patent rights, including searches of USPTO records and industry databases.

Requirements for Duties for IP Patent Specialist/ Paralegal

• Bachelor's degree preferred; Paralegal certification is a plus.
• Some experience or coursework in patent law is beneficial.
• Basic knowledge of U.S. and foreign patent processes (prosecution, maintenance, and renewals) is a plus.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Word and Excel; familiarity with Innovation, PATTSY, Lexis/Nexis, or other research databases is advantageous.
• Must be a proactive problem solver with the ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
• Excellent organizational skills, adaptable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
