Are you a skilled Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager that's ready to take the next step in your career? As a crucial member of our Management team, the Controller will play an integral role in the overall administration of the company. Collaborating with the General Manager, you will oversee the planning, implementation, and management of all financial activities. Responsibilities include accounting, finance, job costing, purchasing, property management, evaluating company ventures, and conducting vendor/supplier negotiations.


As a Controller, You Will:

  • Collaborate with the General Manager on budgeting and forecasting company activities.
  • Actively engage in all aspects of finance and accounting functions.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and maintain key metrics reporting.
  • Lead the ongoing evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives.
  • Support the General Manager in setting and achieving sales and financial goals in coordination with our PE parent company's leadership.
  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reporting of key metrics.
  • Advise on the financial implications of business activities.
  • Participate in key company initiatives related to markets, products, technologies, and services.
  • Safeguard assets and ensure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing internal audits, controls, and checks.
  • Assist in preparing annual production and financial budgets.
  • Design, implement, and calculate wage incentives, commissions, and salaries for staff.
  • Support and document the preparation of annual audit and tax returns with the company’s external firm.
  • Prepare business tax returns, including sales and use tax, personal property tax, and heavy vehicle tax.
  • Provide financial analysis tools for evaluating company ventures, special projects, programs, capital expenditures, and product costing as needed.
  • Manage commercial banking relationships, including checking, savings, and investment accounts.
  • Interface with external audit firms, suppliers, vendors, insurance agents, credit card companies, and collection agencies.


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Oversee the activities of the Accounting/Finance and Purchasing departments.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer collections, payroll, inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general accounting, and cost accounting.
  • Supervise the purchasing function, including inventory and job-specific purchases.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a progressively responsible financial leadership role.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and manage effectively at all levels and with remote staff.
  • Solid understanding of work-in-progress accounting and cost accounting.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including building spreadsheets and using formulas.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and the ability to learn and use ERP systems.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation.
  • Position is on-site.
