Position Overview:

ROMTech is now seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Electrical Engineering team. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems and components for our medical devices. This is a hands-on technical leadership role that involves providing project management, functional development and strategic direction to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality integrated products that meet regulatory requirements and exceed customer expectations. This is a full-time position, based at our headquarters in Brookfield, CT.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of electrical engineers, providing guidance, support, and technical expertise to drive innovation and excellence in electrical design.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Software R&D, Product Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory Affairs, to define project requirements, establish realistic timelines, and ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Manage the entire product development lifecycle for electrical engineering projects, from concept to commercialization, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and regulatory testing requirements.
  • Drive the development and implementation of electrical design standards, processes, and best practices to optimize efficiency, quality, and reliability.
  • Conduct risk assessments and mitigation strategies related to electrical engineering activities, manage third-party testing partners, ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, ISO).
  • Lead design reviews, technical meetings, and brainstorming sessions to foster collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the Electrical Engineering team.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory developments in the field of medical devices, providing strategic guidance and recommendations to senior management.
  • Cultivate a culture of excellence, professionalism, and accountability within the Electrical Engineering team, promoting collaboration, diversity, and inclusion.


Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering within the medical device industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Proved experience leading stage-gate programs from concept through validation and production required.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify root cause issues, collaborate with a team to design effective solutions that comply with product and regulatory requirements.
  • Portfolio of work, recommended.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing electrical engineering teams, delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong technical expertise in electrical design, analysis, and troubleshooting, with proficiency in CAD software, circuit simulation tools, and hardware/software integration.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant regulatory standards and requirements for medical devices (e.g., 510K’s, FDA 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485, IEC 60601).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, present complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders, and influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop high-performing teams in an entrepreneurial and dynamic business environment.
