Systems Engineer – Data Center Operations

The role of the Systems Engineer is to perform complex analytical and administration work for VMware, Azure, and Terraform.Employees in this position are the primary personnel to implement, maintain, monitor, and protect Darden’s infrastructure. Employee must be able to work independently and without supervision.


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Assist in building, configuring, and maintaining VMware vSphere Private Cloud environments including ESX, NSX and vCenter across multiple geographically disperse data centers.

-Assist in building, configuring, and maintaining VROPS, VRM, and SRM environments for monitoring and replication for disaster recovery site operations.

-Provide technical support in engineering and managing Azure cloud infrastructure to support scalable, secure, and high-performing environments, ensuring that all infrastructure changes adhere to organizational standards and processes.

-Proactively monitor Darden’s infrastructure to ensure continued availability and performance.

-Continuously improve and manage infrastructure automation processes with Terraform, including engineering, testing, and maintaining the Terraform environment end to end.

-Assist in creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for responsible environments ensuring clarity and ease of understanding for team members and stakeholders with validation testing.

-Provide support in the planning and designing VMware environment sizing and architecture.

-Collaborate with cross-functional teams to engineer and implement hybrid, cloud-native and on-prem solutions that align with Darden’s needs.

-Provide final-tier On-Call support.

-Assist in building, configuring and maintaining Windows servers.

-Configure, rack, cable, and maintain all data center hardware.

-Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.


REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

-Minimum 5 years’ experience supporting VMware environments, Azure cloud infrastructure, and Terraform within Azure and on-premises environments.

-Expert level knowledge of Azure, VMware VCenter, ESX, NSX, SRM, VRM, VROPS, and Terraform.

-Strong level knowledge and experience supporting Azure Cloud and Microsoft Windows Server OS.

-Must be able to prioritize workloads, problem solve and manage tasks effectively and on time while maintaining quality under pressure.

-Strong understanding of networking infrastructure (LAN, WAN, VPN) and protocols (TCP/IP, FCOE).

-Strong understanding of enterprise class storage and hardware protocols and fabrics.

-Experience in working with formal patch management and change control systems.

-Experience working within ITIL framework.

-Must be able to think creatively to solve problems and design new iterations of infrastructure architectures.

-Ability to perform On-Call duties and responsibilities.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

-Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology (or similar) is a plus.


OTHER KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

-Must be able to work independently with little oversight.

-Must work well within a team environment.

-Excellent analytical and organizational skills with strict attention to detail.

-Excellent oral and written communication skills.

-VMware VCP-NV certification

-Azure AZ-104 certification

-Linux OS experience
