Process Improvement Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Develop programs and/or methods to optimize productivity and reduce cycle time, manufacturing losses, and overall costs.
  • Assure that the process adheres to ISO standards.
  • Continuously improve existing processes using design of experiments and other methods to increase efficiencies.
  • Support the product development process by assisting the program teams as necessary to ensure successful product launches.
  • Mold validation process set-up, troubleshooting, and process monitoring.
  • Quote, procure, modify, and validate both new and existing production mold tooling.
  • Resolve technical tooling and process problems associated with both new and old tooling.
  • Assist in the selection of tooling vendors.
  • Direct vendor interface, coordinate in-process changes, and approve tooling upon completion.
  • Work with vendors to perform new or modified component validations as applicable; determine the requirements and direct any tooling upgrades to existing tooling.
  • Monitor all molding operations, tracking efficiency and potential issues.
  • Apply a scientific approach to problem-solving machine issues. Track statistical data and utilize SPC to continuously monitor and improve the efficiency of molding operations.
  • Participate in variation scrap and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Work as a cross-functional team member with involvement in processes, various designs, troubleshooting, project management, and cost analysis.
  • Assist in the collection of information, selection, and implementation of new molding projects.
  • Create procedures, routings, and BOMs. Assist with corrective actions to resolve non-conformances as root causes are identified.
  • Optimize manufacturing practices.
  • Improve workforce by training Process Technicians and Mold Technicians on efficient machine operations.
  • Perform other projects and tasks as assigned.


Requirements:

  • 4 years of working knowledge of injection molding, with a preference for experience with LSR and rubber.
  • Working knowledge of molding technology with emphasis on injection molding, SPC, DOE, and GD&T. Detailed knowledge of mold and part design.
  • Proficiency with MS Office software suites (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and record-keeping skills.
