Job Title: Structural Engineer – Precast Concrete Systems

Location: Greenville, South Carolina

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer responsible for the cost-efficient design of precast concrete systems, connections, and components. This role requires an individual who can independently manage the engineering design aspects of projects while coordinating effectively with drafters, modelers, coordinators, and other engineers to ensure successful project completion. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and possess strong analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform engineering calculations and details for precast concrete products and connections.
  • Manage engineering design aspects of projects independently with minimal assistance or guidance.
  • Review contract documents to understand project requirements thoroughly.
  • Attend and potentially lead project and coordination meetings.
  • Write and review Requests for Information (RFI) related to engineering design.
  • Resolve and assist in resolving engineering design issues efficiently and independently.
  • Review and verify engineering design calculations and details prepared by others, including external consultants/subcontractors, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to company standards.
  • Review erection drawings, master shop tickets, and additional shop tickets to ensure compliance with designs and standards.
  • Regularly visit production plants to stay informed about production processes.
  • Obtain licensure in states where engineering work is performed; review and stamp erection drawings, calculations, and repair details as assigned.
  • Evaluate design costs against estimates and take appropriate action to maintain cost efficiency.
  • Complete repairs independently without assistance.
  • Adhere to all company and OSHA safety rules and regulations.

Position Requirements:

Experience and Skills:

  • 3-7 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in precast concrete.
  • Strong work ethic with a high level of dependability.
  • Eager to learn and continuously improve my skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and value interactions with people.
  • Ability to adapt to change while valuing consistency in processes.
  • Positive outlook with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software is preferred.
  • Strong analytical thinking with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, maintain project schedules, and work effectively within a project team.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to document ongoing project information for record-keeping purposes.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changes in work schedules, tasks, or processes as necessary.
