Marketing Coordinator 

Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, Wheaton, IL 

 

This full-time position requires a person with distinct skills and a flair for writing with a solid understanding of digital marketing and traditional media. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of integrated marketing communications, business-to-business and/or trade association marketing. Chamber of commerce experience is a plus but not required—however, the ideal candidate has a heart for service.

 

Marketing 

·      Support the members and programs of the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce through marketing activities including elevating our members’ online visibility on four platforms (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram). Establish benchmarks for digital media programs, track and interpret monthly analytics. Requires knowledge of Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Social Media Platform Analytics – Ex: Meta Business Suite.

·      Write and produce a weekly e-newsletter with direction from the president; develop and distribute outbound communications, including press releases to local media; develop social media strategy and produce, then implement content calendar. Create online and print lead generation assets (e-books, guides, flyers, on-demand content) with the support of a graphic. Experience with SMS text broadcasts & email automation is a plus. 

·      Support ongoing committee development and activity, special events and any Chamber-related functions that further the interests of our members. 

·      Protect and promote the Wheaton Chamber brand in all material, including social media and events. 

·      Leverage both organic and paid advertising campaigns on behalf of the Wheaton Chamber to drive traffic to our website and events.

·      Help refine and promote sponsorship levels for members and events. 

 

Programs 

·      Promote and generate attendance at monthly luncheons, committee meetings, monthly “Ignite University” (a partnership with Wheaton Public Library), business expos and special events to members and the public. 

·      Help with outreach to new and prospective Chamber members. 

·      Contribute to Chamber growth through retention and renewal campaigns. 

·      Collaborate with “Partners in Progress” (City of Wheaton, Downtown Wheaton Association, Wheaton Park District, Wheaton Public Library and Community Unit School District 200) and allies (Innovation DuPage, Choose DuPage, DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau, Illinois Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives). 

 

 

 

Communications 

·      Coordinate internal and external communications including weekly newsletter “Monday Matters,” member e-blasts, press releases and other promotions. 

·      Create and support an annual schedule ensuring appropriate display and execution of members’ paid advertising, including pricing schedule. 

·      Use ChamberMaster database to document committees and communications, build campaigns, and track progress as the Chamber continues flourish. Training provided.

·      Use Constant Contact for mass outgoing communications, including customized e-blasts.


Website & Online Prescence Management 

·      Manage and update website (requires knowledge of WordPress). 

·      Improve Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for the website and other online materials. 

·      Keep member and events calendar on up-to-date in collaboration with president/CEO and support from administrative assistant. 

·      Develop and implement ongoing social media campaigns that bring members and prospective members to our website. 

 

Skills required:

·      Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on digital marketing and social media.

·      Proficiency in all four social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter/X). 

·      Writing skills must include spelling and grammar skills and a working knowledge of standard publishing guidelines (AP Style). Proficiency in Microsoft Office/365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), experience working in an online environment, and ability to create presentations. Comfortable in groups and able to speak in public when called upon.

·      Proficiency in database management with training available for our proprietary software, ChamberMaster (GrowthZone), the database that links membership with QuickBooks, Constant Contact and the Chamber website. 

 

Preferred education & experience:

 

·      Bachelor’s degree preferred in related field (journalism, marketing/business, public relations, nonprofit management). 

·      Previous work experience of three to five years in digital marketing (or a related field) is preferred. 

·      Chamber experience is an advantage, but not required. 

·      Journalism or public relations experience is a plus. 

·      Sample portfolio required (traditional & digital examples).

Compensation and job details

 

·      Full-time, Monday through Friday

·      Some early morning and evening business-after-hours meetings required.

·      Must be able to lift 25 pounds.

·      This is primarily an in-person position at 301 W. Roosevelt Road; however, we offer virtual meetings and work-from-home options.

·      Salary - $50,000 including a $5,000 healthcare stipend

·      Bonus structure will be negotiated based on strategic plan goals and objectives.
