Data Engineer/Data Analyst


Location: Hybrid - Onsite in McLean Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Assignment Type: CTH: 6 Months

Conversion Salary Range: $115-125k

Must Have Qualifications: Strong understand of SDLC, Python, R, proficient in SQL, Spark SQL, Data processing frameworks- Apache Spark, Cucumber, bitbucket and Pyspark.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer who has a strong passion for data and enjoys building robust data platforms. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about data management and will collaborate closely with key stakeholders to leverage data in making critical business decisions promptly.

As part of our team, you will support a diverse range of internal clients. You will design, analyze, and develop data storage and analytical solutions using data lake patterns, helping our clients streamline their operations and make data-driven business decisions.

Your Impact:

  • As a Senior Data Engineer, you will work with minimal supervision and autonomously design and develop solutions. You will gather requirements and plan the build and deployment of solutions.
  • You will follow an Agile/Scrum development model to maintain efficient data pipelines and ETL processes for large-scale data integration.
  • You will collaborate with data analysts and engineers to define data requirements and build solutions that drive business insights.
  • You will design, test, and deploy ETL/ELT processes for data extraction, transformation, and loading.
  • You will create and maintain automated test scripts using Pytest to ensure software quality.
  • You will mentor junior team members and consultants, helping them get up to speed on the technologies and products your team works with, and you will showcase the team’s work to customers.
  • You will leverage your coaching and mentoring abilities to guide the team toward continuous growth and the delivery of high-quality software solutions.
  • You will support business areas with advanced statistical and quantitative analysis, running models, identifying exceptions, and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • You will utilize technology tools like SQL and macros for data analysis, helping to populate models and generate insights.
  • Release Support: You will collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure smooth, error-free releases to production.
  • You will engage directly with customers to gather feedback, troubleshoot issues, and ensure that the product meets their needs.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field; advanced studies or degree is a plus.
  • 5-7 years of experience in data engineering with a strong command of Python (Bonus: Knowledge of Scala or Java).
  • Expertise in Spark SQL, SQL, Gremlin, GraphQL, and database management systems, particularly Snowflake (cloud-based warehousing).
  • Solid experience with data processing frameworks, DataFrames, Apache Spark, and Graph Databases.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services, including EMR, EKS, and Lambda.
  • Experience developing statistical or optimization models and algorithms.
  • Programming languages may include, but are not limited to, Python and R.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC practices, including development, testing, and release management.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git and BitBucket.
  • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
  • Familiarity with PySpark for large-scale data processing and analysis.

  • Experience with Talend, Control-M, and APIs.
  • Hands-on experience with release processes for both internal teams and customer-facing products.
  • Proficiency in PySpark, Spark, and SQL.
  • Strong leadership, planning, and communication abilities.
