Rose, Snyder & Jacobs LLP is conducting an exclusive search for our highly-regarded entertainment and media, market-research industry client seeking a Vice President of Finance. Our client provides strategic research and consultation to major players in broadcast and cable networks, entertainment studios, technology and internet companies, and production and distribution companies. The VP of Finance will report directly to the CEO and President. This position is a combination of hands-on work and visionary leadership.


About You

You are a decisive and self-directed leader within a corporate financial department. You are at ease collaborating with powerful industry leaders and managing an accounting department.You have the instinct and experience to deftly guide the financial growth of a profitable company, and the practicality to roll up your sleeves and contribute to the day-to-day functions of the accounting group. Your thoughtful and concise verbal and written communication skills make meetings efficient and productive. You are a natural problem solver, fierce negotiator, and passionate about your work.If you have familiarity with the entertainment, production, or media space, then you will have a keen understanding of our clients.


The Position

The VP of Finance will provide oversight and management of all financial aspects of the company as well as human resources and payroll, insurance and risk management. This includes financial reporting, budgeting/projections and cash flow management. In addition, this position provides administrative oversight of the outside tech firm and is the liaison between the company and tax CPAs, facilities/property management company and other third-party service providers.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations and management of the accounting and financial areas of the company and the related systems, including general accounting, billing and receivables/customer remittance management, accounts payable, payroll and commissions processing, reviewing P&L, and all financial reporting
  • Close the monthly books in an efficient and timely manner
  • Advise company executives on financial goals and growth opportunities
  • Create budgets and financial forecasts based on financial reporting
  • Development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures
  • Review account reconciliations and ensure other adequate internal controls are in place
  • Responsible for banking relationship and monitoring/reporting on liquidity/cash management, wire transfers, ACH payments and review/approvals of vendor payments
  • Training and development of all accounting staff, including conducting performance reviews
  • Oversee Human Resources and payroll functions including employee benefits, retirement plans distribution/rollovers, periodic investment and overall plan reviews and administration
  • Oversight of the onboarding of new employees, terminations, leaves of absence, compensation reviews/adjustments and bonus tracking/processing
  • Handle risk management (primarily business insurance) renewals/applications and insurance related issues (obtaining of certificates of insurance, etc.)
  • Responsible for general company/office administration in partnership with the Executive Administrative Assistant
  • Liaise with the tech service provider in partnership with the VP of Operations with regards to tech equipment purchases/repairs, and services
  • Liaise with the property management company with regards to any facility issues with support from the Executive Administrative Assistant
  • Management of office lease and related issues
  • Special projects including analysis, responding to owner requests, handling owner regular payments, and periodic equity distributions


Software

Microsoft Suite, QuickBooks Enterprise, Concur, Excel, Intuit for Payroll, Ease for HR/Benefits enrollment


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years in the finance/accounting industry
  • Bachelors and/or Masters degree in finance related course of study
  • Experience as a VP of Finance, Controller, CFO, or other leadership position within Finance Department
  • CPA license preferred
  • Production insurance experience preferred
  • Entertainment, media, production or market research experience preferred
  • Proven experience in fiscal analysis, management, and processes, financial benchmarking, and tax compliance and laws


Where You’ll Work

This is a hybrid role with 1-2 days per week required in our Westlake Village office. We are only considering local candidates for this position.
