We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced ballet teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ballet instruction, a passion for working with children of all ages, and the ability to create a positive and engaging classroom environment. This role includes teaching students from preschool ballet through advanced levels, as well as teen/adult classes.

Position: Ballet Teacher


Responsibilities:

  • Teach regularly scheduled weekly and occasional pop-up or special event ballet classes to students of varying ages and skill levels (walking through adult), adhering to our established curriculum for each level of class (preschool, primary, level 1, level 2, level 3, and level 4).
  • Work with Dance Texas management team to adapt to and evolve the current curriculum to ensure it meets the needs of all students.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment. We allow and encourage everyone to foster their love for dance regardless of physical or cognitive ability. This means that sometimes you may have a student in your classroom with special needs (i.e. ADHD, autism, cerebral palsy). You may also occasionally have an English language learner in your class.
  • Collaboration with other instructors and staff is a positive and productive way to contribute to the growth and success of Dance Texas.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students and support their personal and artistic growth as well as be willing to receive constructive feedback.
  • Stay updated on dance education trends and techniques to bring fresh ideas to the studio.
  • Support and participate in studio events, performances, and community initiatives.
  • Be able to choreograph routines for Winter Showcases and the annual recital including choosing appropriate music and costume(s).


Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience teaching ballet (preferred).
  • Ability to teach or sub other genres of dance such as tap or jazz (preferred)
  • Degree in dance or related field (preferred but not required).
  • Strong adaptability to current curriculum with the ability to expand and innovate.
  • Passion for dance education and nurturing students’ creativity and potential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn computer programs such as Dance Studio Pro, Google Drive, Asana, etc.
  • Commitment to the values and mission of Dance Texas.
  • Ability to adhere to a weekly schedule, arrive to teach prepared and on time, and flexibility to occasionally attend meetings or special events outside of regularly scheduled weekly class times.
