JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our client is seeking a Cabling Tech for a contract scenario. The cabling technician will build and maintain all Cat6 infrastructure. The Cabling Technician responds to telephone calls, email and cabling requests for network and device support. This person is also responsible for installation of our audio/visual (AV) equipment, including mounting and installing TVs, video conferencing equipment as well as installing computers, monitors, printers and other gear associated with the IT department. This person also installs and tests a variety of other gear including networking equipment and security camera systems. This position may have contact with third-party software, network and hardware vendors, resellers or distributors. This position may have to work off tall ladders and/or lifts to complete specified work. The technician also documents, tracks and monitors the problem to ensure a timely resolution in work order system.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Be initial point of contact for all cabling and audio/visual requests

Install, maintain and repair existing Cat6 infrastructure

Install TVs, network gear and security camera systems

Install and maintain network room electronic door lock systems

Install computers, monitors, printers and other IT gear

Test, terminate and label newly installed or relocated cables according to CTO and I.T. Director specifications

Performs preventive maintenance and repairs by troubleshooting Cat6 cabling issues

Identify, track and remove abandoned cable

Installation of network racks, cable management and associated gear

Log help desk tickets and ensure timely follow-up of projects before and after completion


EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

AA Degree is required (4-year degree preferred)

2+ years of installing, maintaining and repairing structured cabling

Strong listening skills with ability to empathize, focusing on customer service; exceptional oral and written communication skills with all levels of customer, peers and managers via documentation, telephone and email

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, management and partners

Knowledge of industry standards with regard to cable installation and termination

High level of integrity and a team-focused individual
