The successful candidate will report to the General Counsel and play a pivotal role in managing general litigation matters, providing Labor and Employment legal advice, and assisting with the development and implementation of a robust legal compliance program.


This role involves working collaboratively with various business units, including Human Resources, Marketing, Worker’s Compensation Management, Supply Chain, Procurement, HSE, and Claims, to ensure the company’s operations comply with legal standards and industry best practices.


Experience in the construction industry is strongly preferred.


Essential Functions:

Litigation:

  • Manage general litigation matters and potential legal claims.
  • Oversee relationships with external counsel, ensuring effective representation.
  • Provide legal guidance on warranty claims and consumer law issues.
  • Assist with document productions, litigation holds, subpoena responses, and garnishment responses.
  • Help forecast and manage litigation budgets.
  • Conduct legal research and provide sound legal advice on various matters.
  • Track outside counsel invoices for litigation-related expenses.


Labor and Employment:

  • Advise on compliance with laws governing employer-employee relationships.
  • Draft and review employee policies and procedures, providing legal counsel on recruiting, discipline, and terminations.


Compliance:

  • Collaborate with the General Counsel to monitor and manage legal risks across the organization.
  • Assist with day-to-day in-house transactions and regulatory compliance.
  • Support the development and implementation of an effective legal compliance program.
  • Partner with Internal Control and Audit departments to implement and monitor compliance policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Conduct internal investigations as needed.
  • Educate and train employees on compliance, policies, and best practices.
  • Screen company publications and marketing materials for compliance with laws and internal policies.


Miscellaneous:

  • Perform any additional tasks as requested by the General Counsel or Company.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • JD or equivalent from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Texas (or another U.S. state with the ability to practice in-house in Texas).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in litigation at a law firm or in-house department, with a focus on commercial litigation.
  • Familiarity with Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FLSA, and FMLA preferred.
  • Knowledge of consumer laws is a plus.
  • Construction industry legal experience or familiarity with industry-specific legal controls (e.g., Anti-Money Laundering) is highly desirable.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and regions, liaising with senior executives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Adobe, Outlook), with familiarity with Smartsheet and Dynamic View a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
