About the Position:

As a SBA (Small Business Administration) Sales Specialist, you will work closely with an assigned team of Business Development Officers (BDO) and customers to effectively develop relationships and onboard new loan opportunities. You will also manage and process SBA loan applications while facilitating the processing of loans through the credit and closing process. In this position, you must be able to coordinate with customers and BDO(s) to provide the SBA credit and closing department with excellent customer service and complete loan packages.

What You Will Do:

  • Partner with an assigned SBA BDO team to collect application items and construct submission packages for SBA Operations
  • Work with an assigned SBA BDO team to identify, qualify and screen SBA loan opportunities to ensure loan opportunities meet SBA guidelines
  • Perform a detailed analysis of the financial statement spreads and repayment capacity for borrowers, affiliate business entities, and corporate and personal guarantors
  • Apply knowledge of SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to evaluate loan
  • Assemble complete and accurate loan packages for underwriting, including all required documents in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Onboard third-party brokers referred to the Bank by an assigned SBA BDO team
  • Prepare and complete SBA forms 1919, 159(s) & 8821 (tax transcripts requests)
  • Perform G-845 Alien Verification approval with the SBA
  • Assist Closers and Underwriters to collect missing information as needed
  • Apply ethical principles and standards to accomplishing work and remain current on organizational and industry policies and procedures
  • Serve as a client point of contact throughout the loan life cycle
  • Foster new and expand existing customer relationships through cross-selling products
  • and services
  • Assist in business development at the direction of the BDO, such as:
  • Contact existing client base to review current relationships or seek referrals
  • Attend trade shows to network and promote First Internet Bank’s products
  • Perform administrative support duties to assist the BDO, such as:
  • Meeting and conference planning and travel arrangements as needed
  • Preparing proposals, reviews, and routine correspondence
  • Answering phones and returning messages for assigned BDO

What We’re Looking For:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Minimum of two years of experience in sales or operations with consumer or commercial loans
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field is preferred
  • Knowledge of all applicable bank and branch policies, procedures and systems
  • Strong experience in the Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Previous experience utilizing nCino preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management and organization skills

Working Conditions/Demands:

  • Professional office setting.
  • Primarily sedentary position requiring long periods of time working at a computer.
  • Must be able to move throughout the office and buildings to obtain or relay information.
