Histology Technician

A client in the downtown Chicago area is looking for a Histology Technician to join their team. Please see a further description below:


Must Haves:

  • At least an associates in some type of life sciences
  • 3+ years experience
  • Previous experience in molecular laboratories
  • ASCP (HTL or HT) certification – please bring up if they do not have a cert


Plusses:

  • Bachelors in Science
  • Experience cutting kidneys, eyes, doing immunofluorescence, IHC, muscle or EM (Electron Microscopy)


Day to Day:

  • Perform various tests, lab processing, staining, preparation of slides, special histological stains
  • Track supplies and expenses, provide documents and correspondence for reports
  • Maintain equipment and prepare for lab use
  • Dispose chemicals
  • Prepare, clean and maintain instruments
  • Be able to ‘command the ship’ and keep everyone on track throughout the evening
  • Able to answer questions from more junior techs
