Description:

The Ruggedized Fiber Optic (RFO) Manufacturing Development has the following charter. To supply the quick turn capabilities needed for prototypes and customer samples. To supply tooling designs in support of new products and processes to meet customer ramp up schedules. In summary, to create cost effective solutions for first NPI product builds and prepare those products for transfer to production.


The openings are for (3) experienced (preferred but not required) fiber optic technicians. These Team Members will be key members of simultaneous engineering teams and will be responsible for optical connector assembly, termination of various configurations of fiber optic cable assemblies, and testing of these cable assemblies. These positions will also assist in process development and resolution of problems encountered in the process of bringing new optical products from concept to market. Other duties will include operation of fiber router & completion of over-molding process. These positions will also provide suggestions for the simplification of new products to reduce costs and increase overall manufacturing efficiency.


The individuals must also be able to work as a team member with remote sites and outside vendors. The individuals are to be self-starters and have the ability to work well under schedule pressures and be able to balance workload as priorities change. Candidates need to have a strong work ethic with a desire to continually learn & with a concentrated focus on serving the Customer.


Primary responsibilities include:

1. Termination of various standard fiber optic termini as well new termini designs.

2. Support prototype product builds, test product builds, pre-release NPI builds.

3. Mechanical Aptitude to safely & efficiently operate equipment (E-Stop/Soft Stop, identifying issues, clearing faults and acknowledging machines states.

4. Assist in the estimation process step durations.

5. Assist in setting-up new manufacturing processes.

6. Suggest process changes to improve overall manufacturing efficiencies.

7. Communication within a team atmosphere to ensure clarity of purpose & Customer satisfaction.

8. Soldering & PCBA Assembly skills for the following: Wire Harnesses, Connectors, Passive Components (Resistors, Capacitors, etc.), IC (Integrated Circuits).

9. Use of Fiber Optic & Electronic Test Equipment: Optical Power Meters, IL/RL Test, Oscilloscope, DMM (Digital Multi Meter), Variable Power Supplies, Variable Attenuators, Optical & RF Switch.


Minimum requirements:

- Completed High School or equivalent.

- Preference 2 years of experience in a fiber optic manufacturing environment but not mandatory.

- Must have good time management skills to work on numerous projects simultaneously.

- Attention to Detail (following BOM’s, Routers, and, understanding drawings/prints).

- Proficient Dexterity & Motor Skills for intricate/delicate work.
