Responsibilities:


  • Responsibilities will require performing several chemistry work instructions or quality system procedures in a Food Laboratory.
  • Applicant must have the ability to learn and perform entry/intermediate level work instructions and operate basic lab equipment; able to work semi-independently and resolve routine problems; ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing; maintain ISO records for process control and comply with quality system and safety requirements; will be expected to cross-train and be capable of substituting for absent team members in specific areas and comply with quality system and safety requirements; perform routine maintenance and calibrations of basic level instrumentation; other duties as assigned including inventory mgmt. and/or ordering, receiving and login of lab supplies, cleaning, and organization of shared workspaces.
  • Precision and accuracy in performance on applicable work instructions and data collection is essential.
  • Team member will be required to demonstrate ongoing proficiency and growth after training for chemistry test methods, laboratory information management system (LIMS) processes, quality system requirements, inventory, and laboratory safety.


Qualifications:


  • Education: A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent with laboratory experience. Prefer college level courses or degree in chemistry, biochemistry, food science, or related sciences. Strong reading and comprehension skills are required for self-guided learning and application of scientific materials and other instructions.
  • Experience and or Expertise: Bachelor’s degree in a science field preferred.
  • Difficulty of Duties: Work activities are variable and require good judgment to complete tasks.
  • Computer Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or equivalent. Applicants should be proficient in computer usage as labs are paperless and digitized.
  • Training Programs: The training needs for this job classification are assessed and assigned by management team members in the LIMS Training Manager. The amount and level of training required are dependent on assigned duties and the level of responsibility and may vary from team member to team member.
  • Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques to occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job the team member is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, talk, hear alarms and instrument signals, and visually inspect results. While handling chemicals, latex/nitrile/equivalent gloves must be worn to prevent exposure to standard laboratory chemicals.
