We are seeking a Metallurgist for our project in Kingman, Arizona.

The purpose of this position is to continuously monitor production output optimize process efficiency in line with plan capacity and sound processing principles.


Responsibilities:

Health, Safety, and Legal Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with DRA’s Health and Safety responsibilities
  • Comply with provided systems, practices, methods, standards and procedures of the job
  • Adhere to lock out procedures at all times
  • Comply with legal an operational requirements
  • Adherence to the company's environmental management program and objectives are implemented according to statutory legislation and the Strategic Management Plan


Functional Role

  • Process activities are integrated and coordinated
  • Comply with provided system, practices, methods, standards and procedures of the work
  • Ensure the adherence to the specified process parameters within the respective sections
  • Effective trouble shooting in case of deviations
  • Identify, diagnose and analyze deviations and consult with supervisor prior to implementing changes
  • Provide support and advise to responsible Supervisors
  • Conduct research (literature or practical) on specific topics received from Plant Metallurgist/ Process Superintendent / Plant Manager or client.
  • Conduct the test work in the laboratory scale; do a physical test in the plant; consolidate results with past reports & with findings from the internet; conduct cost analysis exercise to evaluate the viability of implementing the project, make necessary recommendations for changes in the process
  • Perform administrative duties to ensure record accuracy and availability, budget compliance and spares availability
  • Ensure adherence to client quality requirements by monitoring laboratory feedback and ensuring the implementation of corrective measures
  • Continuously monitor the production process to ensure adherence to ISO and legislative standards/requirements
  • Function as a member of a project and co-ordinate project activities or provide input in terms of projects resource allocation.
  • Manages subordinates' key performance areas by setting and monitoring performance standards and taking action to correct deviations to achieve the section's objectives
  • Plans and co-ordinates the section's work load and sets and adjusts individual objectives
  • Prepares career development plans, appraises progress and provides training and coaching to develop subordinates to their full potential.
  • Manage and control the allocation of funds to ensure adherence to approved budgeted expenditure
  • Assist in compiling the Processing budget by providing information based on operational and resource requirements


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering
  • 2+ years’ experience as a junior metallurgist
