The Bar Manager/Restaurant Assistant Manager is a leadership role responsible for Bar Management & the success of the front of the house operations. Must have an availability to work evenings and weekends. Should be extremely organized, a strong multi-tasker, an ability to coach direct reports in the moment, and have experience in reinforcing an exceptional climate of hospitality within the restaurant.


Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Recruit, interview, hire and train new bar staff employees
  • Handle customer complaints
  • Advertise the daily, weekly and monthly promotions of the bar
  • Ensure staff is following all food control and safety regulations
  • Create employee schedules based on expected customer numbers
  • Have knowledge in P&L accountability (sales, comps/discounts, food, liquor, labor, & controllable profit)
  • Expert Knowledge of brand standards and operational procedures
  • Adherence to all Federal, State, and Local operational guidelines
  • Integrates all company initiatives and emphasizes with applicable staff
  • Assist in Hiring and Staffing the restaurant to meet established staffing levels
  • Implement corrective actions with staff
  • Provide assistance in Prime Cost Control: Food Cost and kitchen labor management; controllable purchasing
  • Assist in Inventory Count and Ordering
  • Assist in conducting any assigned operational audits
  • Assist in managing any facilities issues
  • Knowledge of plate presentation, recipe adherence and operational procedures
  • Provide assistance in managing floor operations and run shifts based on business levels
  • Engage with customer to provide exceptional service
  • Follow up with additional projects given on a weekly basis


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Communication: Bar Managers will need both written and verbal communication skills. Written communication skills will assist the Bar Manager with understanding directions from the general manager, district manager or corporate employees.
  • Verbal communication skills are crucial as Bar Managers will need to develop working relationships with employees, customers and other management.
  • Problem-solving: It is the role of the Bar Manager to diffuse conflict within the bar. This requires developed problem-solving skills that allow the bar manager to effectively handle conflict in a way that works for both the customer and the staff.
  • Leadership: Leadership skills will assist the Bar Manager in effectively leading their bar staff in a way that is productive and organized.
  • Organizational: Bar Managers are in charge of many different aspects of the business including hiring, promoting, training, scheduling and managing, so strong organizational skills are necessary.


Preferred Experience:

  • 3-5 years prior Full-Service Restaurant Management experience
  • 3-5 years prior bartending experience
  • State Mandated Food Manager Certification
  • Proficient in Technology applications: POS Systems, Scheduling Platform, Purchasing and Inventory Management software
  • Ability to communicate at a high level, professionally
  • Understanding of World Class Guest Service
  • Experienced with P&L, strong understanding of how sales, labor and other costs are related, and what must be done to improve key restaurant metrics
