Summary

The GIS Specialist is part of a team developing GIS content and data. Being part of a team supporting the implementation of a new Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) platform that utilizes Esri’s GIS platform for asset management. The GIS Specialist will apply a discrete focus necessary to build datasets and support the team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with building out GIS datasets so it can be used as the system of record for client Operations
  • Perform an analysis of the logical data flow between existing client systems
  • Assist with the development of the GIS for the EAM deployment
  • Work with the client and the SDI Manager to prioritize data collection, conversion, and development activities
  • Develop strategic plan / future capabilities roadmap to include refreshed technology and/or process enhancement recommendations to allow the client to achieve desired business outcomes (i.e. eliminate manual intensive processes, and siloed data sources)

Requirements

  • 3+ years working on municipal GIS datasets with a focus on data conversion and development
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience using Esri suite of GIS software including: 1) ArcGIS Online, 2) ArcGIS Enterprise, 3) ArcGIS Pro and its related extensions.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution in Environmental Science, Geography, GIS, Urban Planning, Computer Science, or a closely related field
  • Direct work experience with data migration from relational databases, and GIS conversions to ArcGIS Enterprise 11.1 platform.
  • Experience with spatial data management, spatial analysis technologies, process design and modeling, server and web GIS technologies
  • Skilled in the conversion of spatial data into digitized formats utilizing current GIS technologies
  • Skilled in researching, compiling, summarizing, and interpreting statistical data and information materials
  • Ability to plan and see the big picture
  • Detail oriented and organized with excellent time management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
