Job Description

The Senior Systems Administrator will be responsible for all the general systems administration for multiple offices, as well as overseeing the IT needs of remote workers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing and optimizing Linux-based systems as well as a working knowledge of Windows, a deep understanding of network and server architecture, and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues. The Senior Systems Administrator will be charged with implementing security best practices, managing employee workstations, and ensuring compliance. In addition, this driven individual may work directly with clients to properly set up their system’s networking to support our software installs—specifically as it relates to routing.

Responsibilities

●      Responsible for the design, maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers and virtualization. Monitor, evaluate and modify the system’s performance.

●      Maintain and monitor network and system security.

●      Implement security best practices company wide and track staff compliance.

●      Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes.

●      Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance.

●      Provide documentation, technical specifications, and recommendations for implementing new and upgrading existing IT infrastructure.

●      Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection and disaster recovery.

●      Provide remote networking and IT support to our customers as it relates to setting up Greensea’s technology on end user equipment.

●      Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues.

●      Lead internal IT and remote helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions.

●      Maintain network facilities in individual machines, such as drivers and settings of personal computers as well as printers.

●      Administer servers, laptop and desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, VoIP phones, software deployment, security updates and patches.

●      Develop processes for onboarding and decommissioning employees as it relates to system access and hardware allocation.

●      All other responsibilities as reasonably assigned.


Requirements

●      Associate or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required.

●      5+ years of database, network administration, or system administration experience.

●      Proficient in both Linux and Windows.

●      Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent.

●      Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols.

●      Experience with scripting and automation tools.

●      Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing internal helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, and data protection.

●      Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
