Position Summary: This position is responsible for assembling the Power Electronics, which includes the Variable Speed Drive (VSD) and Brake Resistor, to support the operation of a Turboexpander Generator. The job will require fabrication, assembly, and some testing of the Power Electronics in accordance with applicable drawings, schematics, specifications, and process instruction for production and development.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

·       Route wires, assemble, and install electrical and electronic components.

·       Follow assembly instructions, prints, and specifications to determine component parts and assembly sequences of electromechanical parts.

·       Analyze schematics and drawings of electrical systems for the purpose of determining the efficiency and safety of the installation.

·       Inspect, test and adjust completed units to ensure that units meet specifications, tolerances and customer order requirement.

·       Diagnose causes of electrical problems or failures for the purpose of identifying equipment repairs.

·       Manufacture custom wiring harness to fit equipment.

·       Cut wire and or cable to specified lengths and terminate to components.

·       Crimp terminal and lugs to wire ends, using hand or machine crimping device.

·       Route, comb, twist, tie wrap, and attach wire to terminal points, according to layout, using soldering gun and hand tools.

·       Use testing devices such as ohm meters, voltmeters, and ammeters.

·       Conduct functional and continuity tests of electrical assemblies, components, wire harness and plugs, using ohmmeter, test lights and other electrical testing instruments.

·       Connect wiring to accessories, such as relays, circuit breakers, connectors, switches, circuit breakers, buss panels and reconnection boards.

·       Drill, tap, ream, countersink, and spot-face bolt holes in parts, using drill presses and portable power drills.

·       Position, align and adjust parts for proper fit and assembly.

·       Fabricate and form parts, coils, and structures according to specifications, using drills, calipers, cutters, and saws.

·       Ability to use hand and power tools, as well as operate forklifts and cranes.

·       Follow all safety procedures in handling equipment and machines.

·       Field support to assist in troubleshooting and commissioning, as needed.


Education/Experience - The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required.

·       2-3 years electrical manufacturing experience

·       Must be able to read and understand electrical schematics.

·       Ability to manage time & work well under pressure.

·       Attention to detail is a must; perform all tasks with a high level of accuracy.

·       Good problem-solving skills.

·       Team player with good communication skills

·       Additional computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite


Nice to Have

·       Hands-on experience with variable frequency drives is a benefit

·       2 years soldering experience.

·       Experience with RS-232/485 communication and MODBUS protocols

·       Experience with AC-DC conversion equipment and motor drives

·       Experience in a clean energy company

·       Experience working in a small to mid-size company where the efforts of one or two individuals are very impactful.


Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Compensation:

The salary for this role is $27/hour.


Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Candidate will not typically be travelling, however must be able to travel up to 5% of the time to support field operations as necessary.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
