We are two well-established, funeral homes located in Milwaukee, WI, and will soon be opening our third location in Muskego, WI. As we continue to grow, we are looking to hire a Funeral Director Apprentice who shares our commitment to excellence and service.

Position Overview:

As a Funeral Director Apprentice, you will have the opportunity to receive hands-on training and mentorship in all aspects of funeral service, preparing you for licensure as a funeral director. You will work closely with our experienced funeral directors and staff to support families in their time of need, from planning and arranging services to assisting with daily operations. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping others and is eager to learn the ins and outs of funeral service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with funeral arrangements and support grieving families with empathy and professionalism.
• Work alongside licensed funeral directors to coordinate services, transportation, and documentation.
• Help prepare for funeral services in accordance with state regulations.
• Coordinate with service providers and assist with scheduling services.
• Manage office tasks such as filing, maintaining records, and scheduling appointments.
• Participate in technical training with the help of an experienced funeral director.
• Provide on-call support to the families we serve.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment for our team and the families we serve

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree or higher in mortuary science preferred).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Compassionate, empathetic, and professional demeanor when interacting with families and team members.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call swing weekend shifts as needed.
• A strong desire to learn and advance in the funeral service profession.

Licensure:

• Applicants are not required to have an apprenticeship license at the time of hire. However, the successful candidate will be supported in obtaining their Funeral Director Apprenticeship License after being hired and completing the necessary requirements.
