JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The Lean Production Manager is responsible for the coordination, alignment and execution of all Döhler’s Lean Production strategy, projects and initiatives within their own Factory. Directly reports to Factory Manager and functionally reports to Regional Lean Production Manager.

This role actively participates during the design process of the global and regional strategies voicing the specific needs and context of their factory, and defining the additional tactics that their factory may require.


Essential Functions

  1. Leads the rollout of Döhler global Lean policies, procedures, standards, and tools, and ensures they are fully embraced and implemented.
  2. Development of their factory specific roadmaps linked to global and regional objectives and strategies, taking into account the local context.
  3. Ensures the sound and sustainable execution of the roadmap by: ensuring proper governance / routines at multiple leadership levels to track execution progression and improvement sustainability, spend time on shop floor to evaluate maturity progression and identify key opportunities and provide guidance and feedback to leadership and align on corrective actions to adjust execution plans.
  4. Serve as a liaison between the factory organization and the global and regional Lean Production Team.
  5. Leads, moderates and facilitates Lean Initiatives Workshops at site level.
  6. Oversees the site training program to ensure the proper level of lean knowledge at all levels of the organization.
  7. Guarantees the timely and accurate measurement of success criteria and metrics (KPI) to evaluate the impact of the Lean Production Strategy.
  8. Reports Lean Production strategy progress and performance to Plant Manager, and Regional and Global Lean Production.
  9. Acts as a change agent by executing and adapting as needed the communication strategy and management of change for Lean initiatives helping employees at all levels to learn, understand, adjust, engage and grow within the continuous improvement culture.
  10. Serving as a subject matter expert to the factory organization for Lean Production tools and methodologies, i.e., Problem Solving, 5S, Daily Management Systems, etc.
  11. Participates in the identification and planning of the Group Lean Manufacturing regional and global objectives, goals, strategy, and measures intended to improve Döhler’s productivity, efficiency, cost, and delivery performance.
  12. Facilitates site key lean improvement projects: high-level cross-functional improvement projects as a project manager.
  13. Partners with Controlling personnel to evaluate project savings estimates, validate reported Lean Initiatives benefits, and ensure accurate accounting of productivity, efficiency, cost, and delivery improvements.
  14. Partner with Factory Leadership Team and Local Leadership Teams to translate the factory improvement strategy into Execution Plans to deliver the expected results that include: Rollout plans, key improvement projects, key competency building activities, and human and budget resources required.
  15. Guarantees the active and value adding participation of their factory in the regional and global spaces for benchmarking, best practices, learning sharing, reapplication, and cross-fertilization.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is occasionally exposed to wet, warm, humid, and cold temperatures.


Physical Demands

The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.

The employee is frequently required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days can vary depending on the production schedule.

Required Qualifications

  1. University Degree in Engineering or relevant technical field.
  2. 2 years’ experience In Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement Systems, i.e., Lean Manufacturing, Operational Excellence, Quality/EHS.
  3. Knowledge Lean principles such as Value Stream Mapping, Just-in-Time, Demand Flow, Single Piece Flow, Five S, Visual Management, Total Productive Maintenance, Continuous Improvement Process, Kaizen, and SPC, preferred. Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
  4. Demonstrated leadership capability in team settings.
  5. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
