We are seeking an Electrical Engineer in Athens, GA. The ideal candidate would act with integrity, serve others, have open, strong and clear communication, be willing to always learn and share knowledge with others, as well as have solid decision-making skills. This is not a temporary position, it is a direct Hire- with a local university and there are no fees, etc., to apply. It will start between $85,000 and $105,000 annually DOE.

 

An Engineer performs a variety of tasks related to planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of building structures and facilities such as roads, bridges, irrigation projects, pipelines, water and sewage systems, and electrical systems. This role typically reports to the Facilities Manager and may supervise other engineers.

 

A day in the life:

1. Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, or other topographical or geologic data.

2. Coordinate with Facilities Management Division (FMD), University Housing, Auxiliary Services and other entities to maintain civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, telecommunication, and security systems.

3. Create documentation for designs, contracts and proposals using AutoCAD for projects.

4. Direct engineering activities ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, or other governmental regulations.

5. Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility.

6. Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standards.

7. Manage and direct the construction, operations, or maintenance activities at project site.

8. Negotiates and administers Commissioning Agent’s scope of work based on Owner Provided Requirements (OPR) to ensure compliance with UGA Standards and contract procedures.

9. Provide technical advice to industrial or managerial personnel regarding design, construction, or program modifications or structural repairs.

10. Provides engineering leadership for all aspects of planning, design, construction, and warranty period of facility engineering systems and infrastructure for UGA facilities.

 

Experience needed:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years experience with design, design development, cost estimating, field verification and construction administration for alteration, renovation, and repair of all electrical services and associated work in existing and new buildings.
  • 2+ years experience preferred with supervising personnel engaged in the planning, design, and estimating of such projects.
  • 4+ years working with various related projects, with a focus on electrical given preference.
  • The ability to work independently, to make sound technical decisions while exercising considerable initiative and creativity within the scope of policy directives.
  • Driven for a high level of excellence and the desire to seek out feasible solutions.
