Position: Formulations Chemist

 *Located in Lincolnton, NC - In the greater Charlotte are*

Seeking an organized and self-starting Formulations Chemist for a growing personal care manufacturing company. The Formulations Chemist will carry out application research and formulation studies to develop new or to improve existing products, processes, and techniques. Experience in personal care strongly preferred.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to –

-Custom formulations and modifications for personal care product formats in bath and body, treatment skin care and hair care categories.

-Preparation of samples, standards, specifications and manufacturing directives for scale up into manufacturing environments.

-Laboratory and notebook data and record keeping including study plans, spreadsheets and trouble-shooting related to formula development.

 -Physical and aesthetic assessments of product characteristics including measurements and specifications to determine product acceptance, stability and shelf life criteria.

 -Finished formula retain sample program including periodic review of product shelf life.

 -Maintenance of all appropriate laboratory equipment to acceptable standards and calibration.

-Work to the principles of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

-Work according to documented procedures, polices, and safety standards.

Position Requirements:

• B.S. degree in Chemistry or relevant scientific subject
• At least 2 years of work experience in formulation and product development
• Good organization skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Broad range of experience in formulation preparation and testing in the laboratory
• Good verbal communication and documentation skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Ability to work under pressure with flexibility
• Ability to keep detailed records
